Day 1: Welcome to Russia — Arrival in Moscow

Arrive in the vibrant capital of Russia.

Day 2. Moscow City Tour — Red Square, Metro & Departure to Kazan

Spend the day exploring Moscow’s most iconic landmarks. Visit Red Square, marvel at the colorful domes of St. Basil’s Cathedral, and stroll through Alexander Garden. Discover the architectural beauty of the Moscow Metro — a subterranean museum of Soviet design. In the evening, board the overnight train to Kazan.

Day 3: Discover Kazan — The Crossroads of East and West

Arrive in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan. Explore the Kazan Kremlin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and admire the blend of Islamic and Orthodox architecture. Visit the Qol Sharif Mosque and Annunciation Cathedral.

Day 4: Scenic Train Journey Through the Ural Mountains

Spend the day aboard the Trans-Siberian train, crossing the majestic Ural Mountains — the natural divide between Europe and Asia. Watch the landscapes shift from rolling hills to dense forests. Arrive in Yekaterinburg in the evening.

Day 5: Yekaterinburg — Romanov History and City Sights

Day 6: Scenic Train Journey — Arrival in Krasnoyarsk

Enjoy a peaceful day aboard the Trans-Siberian Railway, watching Siberia’s forests and rivers pass by. In the evening, arrive in Krasnoyarsk — a dynamic city on the Yenisei River, surrounded by stunning natural landscapes.

Day 7: Krasnoyarsk — Nature, Taiga, and the Yenisei River

Arrive in Krasnoyarsk, nestled on the banks of the mighty Yenisei River. Hike through the Stolby Nature Reserve, famous for its towering rock pillars and Siberian taiga forest. Optional visit to one of Russia’s largest hydroelectric dams.

Day 8: Full Day on the Train — Across Siberia

Relax and enjoy the rhythm of the rails as you travel deeper into Siberia. Watch endless forests, rivers, and remote villages pass by your window. A true transsib experience.

Day 9: Arrival in Irkutsk — Transfer to Olkhon Island

Arrive in Irkutsk and transfer by minibus to Olkhon Island, the largest island on Lake Baikal. After a scenic 4-hour drive, settle into your guesthouse and take a sunset walk to Cape Burkhan — a sacred site in shamanic tradition.

Day 10: Olkhon Island Safari — Wild Baikal Landscapes.

Explore Olkhon Island by rugged Russian UAZ van. Traverse steppes, forests, and dramatic cliffs covered in red lichen. Enjoy panoramic views of Lake Baikal and the surrounding mountains. A day of raw natural beauty.

Day 11: Return to Irkutsk — Buryat Culture and Wooden Architecture.

Depart early from the island. Stop for lunch at a traditional Buryat restaurant and sample local Mongolic cuisine.

Back in Irkutsk, explore the city’s charming wooden houses, Orthodox churches, and historic streets — older than St. Petersburg.

Day 12: Listvyanka Village and Taltsy Open-Air Museum

Travel to Listvyanka on the shores of Lake Baikal. Visit the Taltsy Museum of Architecture and Ethnography, featuring centuries-old wooden buildings. Explore the Baikal Museum with aquariums showcasing endemic fish and the unique freshwater seal — the nerpa.

Day 13: Baikal Train — Ride the Historic Circum-Baikal Railway

Board the train along the old section of the Trans-Siberian Railway, hugging the cliffs above Lake Baikal. Enjoy stunning views of the lake on one side and mountains on the other. Stop at historic tunnels, viaducts, and galleries built by Italian engineers over a century ago. Return to Irkutsk in the evening.

Day 14. Departure from Irkutsk via airplane.

Entering Russia

Please check the required documents to enter Russia:

  • valid tourist visa if required. For some countries it is now possible to enter with an e-visa for 30 days.
  • travel passport, valid for at least 6 months on departure
  • travel insurance

There are direct flights to Moscow via Istanbul, Sharjah, Erevan, Baku, Antalya, Tashkent and Bishkek airports, etc.

There are direct flights from Bangkok and Beijing to Irkutsk

Conditions

On the train: accommodation in compartments for 4 people. You may share the compartment with locals. There is storage space for luggage above the door and under the bed. Toilets and washing facilities are available at each end of the car.

In the hotel: mid-range hotels. All rooms with bath or shower/toilet.

This trip can be customized for you. Other dates are possible on request. The tour price depends on the group size, duration and period of travel.
