Baikal’s striking landscape has always attracted tourists, those seeking adventure and anyone wanting to take a rest from the town’s bustle, enjoy the fresh air, beauty of nature and magnificent landscapes. The routeListvyanka – Bolshiye Koty has all these qualities, and what is more it can be covered in just two days after which one will return with vivid impressions.
The trail, along which our route goes, was laid by volunteers. Formerly it was difficult and in places even dangerous, but after restoration and shifting of a few sections it took on its present form as an excellent tourist route. One can get splendid views of Baikal from the trail, enjoy unspoilt nature and learn many new and interesting things.
Arrival at Listvyanka by bus. Before setting off for Koty one can visit the Baikal museum to get acquainted with the flora and fauna of the lake and see a live nerpa – one of the few truly freshwater seals in the world. After that the group will walk some 16-20 kilometres along the trail to the campsite. Here you will have supper prepared on the campfire and spend the night in tent. Overnight in a guethouse in Bolshie Koty is also possible.
Lunch / Supper
On the second day it is planned to visit the village of Bolshiye Koty and one of the most beautiful places on the western coast of Baikal – Cape Scriper. In the evening the group returns by launch “Raketa” from Bolshiye Koty to Irkutsk.
